G9 GLASS MELAMINE LAMINATE
G-9 is a laminate sheet comprised of flame retardant melamine resin and woven fiberglass glass substrate. G9 is compliant with MIL I 24768/1, Type GME. G5 material is compliant to MIL I 24768/8 Type GMG. The two melamine sheet materials are very similar except that the G-9 material has higher resiliency to harsh and adverse environments than the G5. In most cases, the G-9 can be substituted for the G-5.
The G9 material has high strength and excellent arc resistance and electrical insulating properties which allows it to be used as mechanical support in electrical equipment, switchgear, and slot wedges where Class "B" insulation is required. Out of all the thermoset laminates, Melamine is the hardest material making it extremely stable and rigid. G-9 material is also resistant to most harsh chemicals. G9 maximum operating material is 285° F.
